Saturday 13th April

Scira Viking Festival

The festival celebrates the ancient Viking culture and its traditions and is a one-day event that takes place at two locations, on Sheringham’s seafront for the boat burning and on Beeston Common just east of the town near Beeston Bump where the Viking village and reenactments take place. The festival is attended by thousands of people every year, and it’s one of the most popular events in the area.

Saturday 4th to Monday 6th May

Flag Fen Viking Festival

History brought to life during the reign of King Cnut! Be a part of Flag Fen’s Viking Camp and witness live action battle reenactments throughout the weekend. You’ll get to try out sword play and archery and find out about traditional woodworking, metalworking, cooking and weaving from Angles and Danes in the Living history encampment.

Northampton Balloon Festival

Returning to the Racecourse in 2024, the much-loved nostalgic Northampton Town Balloon Festival will once again be filling the skies with balloons!

Saturday 24th to Monday 26th August

Hever Castle in History

Step back in time at Hever Castle during the August bank holiday weekend. Immerse yourself in different periods of history with encampments and re-enactments from the Middle Ages to as recent as 20th Century. Get up close to weaponry and suits of armour and try them on for size.

Watch demonstrations in one of the arenas which include medieval cannons, muskets and guns.

Saturday 12th to Sunday 13th October

Battle of Hastings

This October, step into the scene of England’s most famous battle. Witness warriors clash and mud fly as over 300 re-enactors bring the Battle of Hastings to life on the very spot where it was fought in 1066.

Take the day to explore all the action in the rival Saxon and Norman camps. See the chain mail and weaponry makers while they’re hard at work. And meet the falconers and their birds of prey alongside them. Weave your way through the tents where there’s food to prepare, logs to chop and clothes to mend. Come and see – and smell – what’s cooking.
